# Configure a drill

A powerful feature of the Mapchart is its capacity to disclose information step-by-step.

By configuring a drill, you'll let your user go through hierarchized data with a simple and intuitive interface.

## 1. Prepare data

You don't have to prepare your data specifically to have a drillable mapchart. You just have to join your dataset and your geojson file for a basic mapchart.

## 2. Configure the drill hierarchy

* Go to the "Drill" section in your mapchart's configuration form.
* Declare your columns from the bigger to the smaller level
